Step Into Spring with Grey Pastels

As I sit writing this post with the sound of howling, angry winds, whistling around the bricks of my house outside, it’s hard to believe that Spring is only a month away. The good news is, that the days are growing longer and before we know it, we’ll be enjoying the first blossoms of the new year, cute baby lambs and warmer weather (please Mother Nature!). So although most of us in the UK are still firmly wrapped up in our layers and thick coats, as we endure the appalling weather we are having right now, now is actually a great time to start planning our Spring wardrobe.

When I think of Spring as a colour palette, I think of pastels, with gorgeous shades of delicate pinks, soft blues, white and lemon.  Not to be outdone though, pastel grey is also a classic soft colour that will look fabulous at any time of year and can be teamed with a wide range of other colours be it pastel or bold.

If you are looking for a fresh day time look this Spring, then try mixing similar tones for an elegant and streamlined look. I am a big fan of light grey as a colour and have a number of lightweight jersey knits that I wear a lot throughout the year. For a really great look though, combining pastel greys with whites and pinks works really well, helps lift your skin tone and brightens up your outfit.

Long sleeveless jackets and waistcoats are also hugely popular right now and can be used to add a touch of chic to your casual day look as well as ensuring you cut a smart silhouette this season. They are also very flattering if you want to wear something fitted but are having a ‘does my bum look big in this?’ moment at the same time.

I combined the one shown in these images by YAYA with a grey, incredibly lightweight knit, with stitched in white shirt detail and a pair of gorgeous grey snakeskin leggings by Absolu Paris, which feel amazing on and can be worn casually during the day or dressed up at night. I finished the look with a pair of gorgeous grey suede ankle boots with tassel detail and a fabulous snakeskin bag. For a more fitted look you can also try a classic, on trend biker jacket, in a Spring colour like this YAYA jacket combined with a beautiful scarf.
