Stunning Jewellery Collections by Catherine Hills

A few months ago I met the very talented jewellery designer and goldsmith Catherine Hills at a networking evening. Catherine, who opened her own Atelier and shop in the heart of The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells in November 2014, produces beautiful and exquisitely handcrafted jewellery that is simply gorgeous. Her designs are incredibly feminine and you get a real sense of the work that goes into each individual piece just by the sheer look and feel of them.

With a famous client list including film star Gillian Anderson and the fabulous Dawn French, Catherine has also had commissions for cufflinks for HRH Prince of Wales and 10 Downing Street. However, the most cool fact about Catherine in my opinion, is that she was handpicked as the jeweller for the Harry Potter movies where she produced a number of bespoke designs for the blockbuster films including silver Slytherin rings and tie pins worn by Draco Malfoy in ‘The Prisoner of Azkaban’ and ‘The Goblet of Fire’!

Set in a Victorian building with her workshop on full display and her glass cabinets brimming with her unique collections, it seems quite fitting therefore that Catherine’s shop has all the charm and quirkiness of a Harry Potter set straight out of Diagon Ally when you walk in!

The Birthstone Ball and Chain Pendant necklace is a new addition to Catherine’s jewellery range.  I opted for the all silver version of one of these amazing necklaces with my very own birthstone (sapphire) so couldn’t wait to tell you all about it!

The first and most brilliant thing I love about the necklace is that you can adjust the length to two different positions to fit with what you are wearing, so either higher up as shown in the images of me in this post or lower down so it hangs as a longer pendant.

Apart from the fact the necklace is alluringly tactile, it also comes in a range of colours for you to choose from to fit with your unique birthstone (examples of which are posted below). It feel incredibly light and elegant to wear and am sure will prove a very popular addition to Catherine’s already impressive collections.

What is a Birthstone and What Birthstone are You?

Birthstones are special gemstones that accompany each birth month of the year. Their origin dates back to biblical times when civilisations believed that the stones had special powers and could keep good health, create prosperity and bring good luck. They are traditionally given as beautiful gemstone jewellery to loved ones.

To the right is a guide to make sure you choose the right birthstone for yourself or a loved one.
