Last month we proudly had our ever growing 9 month old baby boy christened at the All Saints Church in Langton Green, followed by a reception at The Royal Wells Hotel in Tunbridge Wells.
Jake was dressed in a simple but beautiful christening jumpsuit and gorgeous baby blue soft knit cardigan by the fabulous Baby Beau & Belle (who I will be featuring in my next post) and my other two children were dressed in matching fabric shirt and dress from childrenswear brand Marmalade and Mash. The christening took place as part of the normal Sunday service and Jake was one of six infants to be christened that day! Thankfully he behaved impeccably during the service and only got a little restless towards the end when he started to get tired. I was fortunate enough to have my friend and fellow photographer Natalie Ross there to photograph the service at the church and capture Jake’s christening story. We will be forever grateful to her for the wonderful images she produced. Also thanks to my good friend Angela who helped me document some of the reception which meant I was actually able to speak to people rather than spend the whole event with a camera in my hand!
The christening reception was an intimate affair of close friends and family. The room was decorated with white bunting and baby blue christening balloons and the cake table was decorated with a vintage theme including a battered old child’s suitcase, vintage birdcage for holding cards and a shabby chic framed picture of Jake in his christening outfit. I spent hours the day before making cake pops (who said these were easy to make was not telling the truth!!) but managed to salvage 12 for the day along with personalised chocolate bars with the date of the christening on. These were placed on the tables and were a big hit (particularly with the children)!
The cake was provided by the very talented Angharad Llewelyn who makes amazing cakes and who has set up a new business called Clever Little Cake Kits which provides you with all you need to make a fabulous celebration cake!
As we knew there were going to be quite a lot of children at the reception, we supplied some fun games in the conservatory area such as giant Connect 4, giant dominos and skittles which went a long way to making sure the children stayed entertained and didn’t get bored.
The afternoon flew by quickly and after our guests said their goodbyes, it was time to take down the balloons and bunting, pack the presents away and draw a close to what had been a wonderful day and the very last of three christenings for the Goodyear family!
