SELF DISCOVERY, TRAVEL & ADVENTURE
2017 has been a journey of self discovery, travel and adventure, with some incredible memories made along the way. Spending my first year in my wonderful new home has felt so rewarding. After a number of years feeling like my life was in limbo, I now have a firm base to grow from. Now that I have the children settled in a new school and the home, I at times worried I’d never have and which has exceeded my hopes and expectations, I am now on a new life chapter full of hope. I am focussing on my inner self and moving forward towards success and fulfillment in all I do.
Putting together this post has been so enjoyable because it reminds me of all I have achieved with the love and support of my partner, family and friends. I have entered 2018 so full of positivity and focus and already have some great things to look forward to in the year ahead. 2017 has taught me never to give up on your dreams, even when at times, they have seemed out of reach.
A photographic journal of my year..
Paris – January 2017
In January of 2017, we travelled straight to the heart of Paris on Eurostar for a one night stop over and a pre-wedding shoot. It was icy cold but Paris is so captivating, it’s hard not to fall in love no matter what the weather!

Settling into my new home in January 2017

New York in April 2017
It was with great excitement that we travelled to New York in April to photograph the beautiful wedding of Layla and Richard. We began on the Friday with a cold but amazing pre-wedding shoot around Manhattan. We battled the icy cold wind to get some beautiful photos of the couple before capturing their wedding on the Saturday. Hard to believe that by the Monday, the weather had changed dramatically and I was cycling around Central Park in 80 degree heat! The trip to New York will forever be in our hearts as was truly wonderful and an incredible experience.

Paris – July 2017
After a few months at home busily photographing weddings and editing it was back to Paris to meet up with the lovely Layla and Richard once more for a post-wedding shoot. The weather was fabulous this time, making for a great shoot and showing Paris off once more, in a completely different light. We worked over two days, firstly with Layla and Richard together followed by a day with Layla on her own, channeling her inner queen! We dined with them at Le Café Richelieu, overlooking Le Louvre on Saturday evening, which, in itself, was a wonderful experience.

Summer Paris Portraits by Sharron
Portugal – July 2017
Shortly after our trip to Paris, we headed to Lisbon to photograph the wedding of Pedro and Yi. Set against the stunning backdrop of Pena Palace in Sintra, this really was a fairytale wedding thanks to the incredible location. The dress code was black tie as it had been for our New York wedding so I had another excuse to wear my new gold evening dress which was actually pretty practical to work in due to the side split! We were then lucky enough to have a couple of days in Lisbon (one extra due to our flight being cancelled!) but hey ho, it did mean I got to go shopping! 🙂

Westcroft Polo Match and Fashion Show – August 2017
In August we attended a fun fashion show and polo match at Westcroft Polo Club to photograph the event as well as being guests. Unfortunately bad weather from the previous few days meant the grass pitch was out of use but it was still a great opportunity to get dressed up and enjoy meeting some great new people!

Jake starts school – September 2017
Hard to believe my youngest has started school – where did the last five years go?! However, it was the start of a new adventure for the little man and also a great opportunity for us to claw back some precious work time as despite him being at nursery a few days a week previously, it was still a struggle trying to balance work and looking after such a busy little bee!

MPA Photography Awards – October 2017
In October, we attended the Master Photographer Association (MPA) Awards dinner where my photo of Pedro and Yi (shown) was in the final. Such a huge honour to have been a finalist amongst the company of such incredible talent and another excuse to squeeze one more wear out of my evening dress – well it seemed fitting as I took the wedding photo wearing it! Sadly, I didn’t win this time but was great motivation for the future!
This was the month I also celebrated being awarded Regional Boudoir Photographer of the Year and Regional Classical Photographer of the Year through the MPA. A proud moment and my lovely glass engraved awards now feature proudly on my kitchen window sill!

Family Villa Holiday in Cascais, Portugal – October 2017
A wonderful opportunity to spend time with my family and explore the lovely town of Cascais, all of which I recorded in this little video diary!

Collaboration with Asquith London – October 2017
The villa also proved to be the perfect backdrop for my shoot for Asquith London – an athleisure brand designing yoga and pilates activewear to live in.

Iceland – November 2017
What a wonderful icy blast Iceland was! With it’s sub zero temperatures and crazy brave couple Josephine and Jason, to photograph in all their finery, it was a challenge we took on with gusto! I was there to assist which mainly consisted of giving hugs to Josephine to keep her warm as well as holding various light stands so they didn’t get blown over in the arctic wind! You can read all about our adventure here: An Iceland Adventure

Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park – December 2017
What better way to end the year than with a trip to Winter Wonderland! We took the children to see Cirque Berserk which was absolutely incredible and had the children transfixed, before heading out for a few rides and to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere. Jake entertained onlookers in the Bavarian Village where we sat to eat, by showing us his best dance moves, to the live renditions of Robbie Williams ‘Feel’ before joining the table of men drinking beer on the table behind us ‘to chat boys stuff’…much to their amusement!

Cocktails at Claridges and New Year’s Eve 2017
A little grown up time over New Year’s weekend gave us an opportunity to head to London for a post Christmas trip to Gucci for the belt I have wanted all year (yay!) followed by cocktails at Claridges (they make THE best strawberry daiquiri’s I’ve ever tasted) and an evening hanging out with great friends. New Year’s Eve was spent having dinner and dancing at No 32 in Brighton before kicking off my heels ready for 2018!

What a great year 2017 has been! Bring it on 2018 – I’m ready for you! x

This blog flashed up on my facebook so I thought, I am logging in on my mac to see this……it was worth it! An amazing year 🙂
